CHFA donates more than $4K to kid-focused charity

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority used the power of social media to raise $4,043 for Sweet Dream in a Bag. The three-week “Like It Forward” campaign offered $1 for every time a post was liked, and $5 for every share. Sweet Dream in a Bag gifts brand new bedding to impoverished kids along the Front Range.

Rockies donate to 60K to Boys & Girls Club

Colorado Rockies players Tyler Anderson, Mike Dunn, Tom Murphy and Trevor Story were present when the team presented a check for $60,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County at CSU Stadium in Fort Collins. It was one of the team’s Rockies Caravan stops — a series of visits by team members and staff throughout state.

Philanthropists join forces in hospital renovation

The Boettcher Foundation, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Caring for Colorado Foundation, Alpine Bank, and Claude and Irene Conner have contributed a combined $620,000 for renovations at West Springs Hospital. The Western Slope facility is the only psychiatric hospital between Denver and Salt Lake City, and will be able to treat twice its current capacity thanks to the new construction.

Dumb Friends League receives million-dollar contribution

The Dumb Friends League received a $1 million donation from the Robert B. Sturm Foundation. The funds will be used to upgrade the League’s Quebec Street Shelter and treat animals requiring specialized care, which the shelter says make up an increasing percentage of its intake. The gift will be matched by The Malone Family Foundation, which has promised to match all gifts to DFL’s Building a Better Way Home capital campaign up to $20 million. The Sturm Foundation has donated to Rocky Mountain PBS, Cancer League of Colorado and the Anti-Defamation League.
