19″ testing
In terms of general marketing trends (first of all I’m interested in marketing other than technical trends) the two points can be noted.
Some distinguished colleagues expressed their opinions that use of RTC leads to residual image effect: let’s say if you leave some static picture for a couple of hours on the screen later you may observe the shadow of this picture. This effect is well known to uses of plasma panels where such process is irreversible and the picture remained embedded for ever while in case of LCD this is a has temporary effect and the panel restores its qualities after while.
This is a driver page for whql driver software.
Accordingly the residual image effect may be related to features of pixel structure, chemical composition of liquid crystals and similar things at the matrix production level yet no direct connection with response time compensation is found. Moreover this effect was most noticeable in Apple Cinema HD (23″ S-IPS matrix) with no RTC at all.
